It was an era of newness and new dawn for members of Igbajo community at home and Diaspora as the Baptist Medical Centre Igbajo was commissioned by the president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji F.A.R on the 6th of August, 2024. BMC Igbajo which was versioned in 2005 by Rev.Dr. Testimony Onifade the then conference president of Osun Baptist conference is to collaborate and consistently provide medical services at subsidiaries rates for the people of Igbajo, associated villages, neighboring towns and cities for improved healthcare have come to reality.
In his charge and word, the president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji F.A.R took his message from the boom of Luke 10:25-37 where he admonished the people to see the important of healthcare has been described in the passage. He appapluded Osun Baptist conference for the remarkable success in health ministry and promised partnership support and collaboration with the Bowen University Teaching Hospital, foreign missionaries and medical practitioners.
During his address, the Owa of Igbajoland, HRM Ademola Stephen Kayode Makinde (Onigemo 1) appreciates the Nigerian Baptist Convention for the support given towards the project and offers prayers for the hospital. He further donated generously towards the development of the project. The chairman Board of Trustees Igbajo Development Association, Engr. Olusola Abel Alalade highlighted the numerous achievements and is proud to be associated with the Nigerian Baptist Convention. The history of BMC Igbajo can’t be complete without acknowledging the efforts of Chief Tunde Omikunle. He thanked Rev. Dr. Supo Ayokunle for giving him the opportunity to address the Baptist family for the permission to start the center on behalf of the Igbajo family. He further applauded individuals and notable members who has donated to the project and seek for more support in giving the medical center a world class facility.
Furthermore, the Asiwaju of Igboland, Chief. Adegboyega Awomolo SAN urges the management of the hospital to begin use of the facility to the glory of God. The Baptist health fellowship Osun conference under the leadership of Dr. Tinde Afolabi celebrates members of the community in supporting government in combating economy hardship and partnership for BMC Igbajo. The medical centre consist of a pharmacy, theatre, male&female wards,etc. The event was attended by the Vice President Admin and HR, Nigerian Baptist Convention Dn. Musa Ubandonma, Director of Ecumenism, Rev. Dr. Testimony Onifade, Rev. Dr. Olubunmi Olalade, Osun Baptist Conference President, Clergy Men’s, Owa-in-Council and members of the community.
Highlights of the event include special prayers for the medical centers, Igbajo community and environs, fundraising for the sustainability of the hospital and pictorial glimpse.
