NICODEMUS PLEADS, “GIVE JESUS A HEARING”
“Does our law condemn anyone without first hearing him to find out what he is doing?” John 7:51, NIV
In our world today, it is becoming increasingly difficult to talk about Jesus in the public. People are comfortable to talk about the latest in the world of sports, the most popular musician or even the richest man in the world. But whenever you bring up Jesus, people suddenly become edgy and uncomfortable. Why are people afraid to hear about Jesus? The chief priests and Pharisees of Jesus' day also felt the same way. Even though they have heard and seen the great power that accompanied Jesus' life and ministry, they were not willing to hear Him speak. The guards that were sent to arrest him came back and testify to His authority, but the Pharisees ignored all of that. However, Nicodemus was different. His encounter with Jesus at night had changed his life and he could not dismiss that with a wave of the hand. He asked the council to give Him a fair hearing.
Are you standing up for your faith today? A lot of people are still confused about the person of Jesus in this contemporary world. This is because the prince of this world has blinded their hearts to the truth. Are you willing to stand up like Nicodemus and plead with them to give Jesus a fair hearing? The Lord is counting on you.
