GOD; THE TRUE SHEPHERD
“I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD.” Ezekiel 34:15, NIV
Have you ever pondered on why a shepherd will do anything to protect his flock? To shepherds, their sheep are their priceless possession. God, in like manner, cares for your total well-being – physical, spiritual and emotional. Such is the message of Ezekiel in our text today. He demonstrated this with the Israelites who were specially chosen by Him as a special people. So, He remains their King, the One who oversees their affairs since human leaders have failed to protect them. It is this picture that David captured when he said, “for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care” Psalm 95:7.
You are of greater value to God. You are a chosen generation and a peculiar people. Because of Jesus' great love for His children, He identified Himself as the Good Shepherd in John 10. In Him, you have a Shepherd who “willingly laid down His life for the sheep.” Rather than grasp, He gives. He is no hireling, but cares deeply for the sheep. His sacrifice of Himself proves once and for all that we are loved and secured. As you hear His voice and follow Him today, He will do you good in every way.
Birthday Blessing: “The Righteous will flourish like a palm tree….” Psalm 92:12
